Grave I.B.31. Son of Benjamin and Eliza Ann Cheney ; late of Northants, England. Served in the South African campaign (Source : C.W.G.C.). Fought in Delville Wood in July 1916. Killed in action on the 12th April 1917 in the improvised and disastrous attack of the 9th (Scottish) Division on the German positions in the East of Fampoux. The 4th SAI lost 6 officers and 200 men. |
